• You’ll be wanting to get your lawn in shape for the Spring and Summer months so there are a few jobs that can help you achieve that. Firstly brush or switch off any worm casts. These just look unsightly and whilst not a major lawn problem can end up leaving your lawn a muddy mess if just left. Treat any moss that is in the lawn with a moss control treatment. This will darken off the moss and slow down the growth. Lawns should then be scarified and preferably aerated using a hollow-tine aerator when it is dry enough to do so. Any bare patches created by the scarifying can be over-seeded when the warmer weather comes along. A light top dressing along with the seeding will also help. As for mowing, well, if it’s growing keep on mowing! Just remember that if the lawn is very wet mowing is not really appropriate so wait for a dry day to get this done. At this time of the year leave some length in the blade to retain the strength of the grass and to help keep moss away. For any of the above treatments or for more advice give your local lawn care company a call to help, hopefully that’s me.
